Why Social Media Is Important For Business?
Are you running a small business or just starting out a new venture? Are you struggling to market your products or services to your target audience? Have you already set-up your business brand on social media platforms?

It is undeniable that social media is a game-changer in the business atmosphere. Since majority of people are online, business owners and marketers are taking this opportunity to reach their target audience through social media. If you are one of them who have already set up their business brand through these platforms, then, luck you. However, if you are still doing your marketing in a traditional way, you better start changing your strategies. Traditional marketing is still good but if you will depend on it alone, you are not getting the advantage you are looking for.
As an entrepreneur myself, I also have tried selling my products offline like promoting them through phone calls, one-on-one product presentation, sending out product samples, giving business cards, or brochures, and a lot more. I did get some clients through these marketing strategies. However, when I tried to jump in and join the bandwagon for digital marketing, it doesn’t just increase my potential clients or leads but I also get to boost my business brand.
So let’s get back to what Social Media is and how important it is to new or small time entrepreneurs like me.
First, “social media” as you all know is a name that is referred to web-based or mobile technologies that allowed interactive communication among different individuals, communities, or organizations. For example, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, among others.
Second, how important is social media for business owners, more particularly for those who are just starting-up or running a small business? As I have said earlier, majority of people are online because we are actually living in the digital age. Can you imagine what life would be without the internet? Well, guess it would be difficult specially if everything now is digitally connected.
Third, social media offers business owners the leverage to increase their competitive advantage by being able to reach out their clients locally and globally. In short, it is the fastest way to get exposure, traffic, and acquire market insights.
Fourth, it is cost-effective compared to traditional marketing strategies. You can create or sign up for an account for free in almost all of social media platforms. There are paid ads and upgrade accounts but these are all up to you. If you are all ready to take a leap and invest on these digital marketing strategies, then why not?
Fifth, social media allows real-time and faster results as regards customer satisfaction. Since it offers a two-way communication, your customers can voice out their opinions or wishes while you as the business owner can address to their interests at ease. Remember that WOM or word-of-mouth is a powerful marketing strategy that could be triggered through social media presence.
Sixth, if you have a website, using social media can boost inbound traffic and therefore creating potential conversion opportunities. As long as you share high-quality content on your social media, your audience will be enticed to click your website link and get the chance to know more about your products or services.
Lastly, by using social media, you are creating your own brand authority. Constant update of quality contents on your social media increases the chance that your audience will find your business more credible. As a result, you will be able to build genuine client base who appreciates your products and services.
